Description

2nd Time Around

I like to upcycle items, giving them a new lease of life. This bear is made from dress that caught my eye because of the sheer beauty and colours in the skirt section and I just knew it would make a stunning bear. I purchased the dress from our local Sue Ryder shop which I like to support by buying from and donating to, as they do such a great job.

Once back home with the dress, I washed it and then proceeded to disassemble it. Then I placed all the pattern pieces and cut them out. Next was piecing them all together and gradually over the course of a couple of days, this sweetheart of a bear appeared. Important info: This bear is not suitable for anyone under the age of 14 as it has NOT been CE tested and cannot be tested due to the fact that I have used second hand, preloved fabric. It is intended to maybe sit in a bedroom on the shelf or maybe a bed etc and not to be played with. Please rest assured though that I have used the same loving care to make this bear as I do making all my other CE tested soft toys.

This is a beautiful teddy bear whose pictures really do not do the material used, justice. It shimmers in the light and is awash with many colours. The facial details are all cut by hand and sewn into place.

Due to the delicacy of the fabric used, please do not submerge the bear in water, please sponge clean only.

Approximate measurements excluding the ears is 34cms.

This bear would make a beautiful gift for someone and the label states what ‘it used to be’.

If you have any precious clothing or fabric that you would like making into your own keepsake bear, please contact me, please see my other listings for more details and prices.

When I was a teenager, I suffered my first panic attack. Thinking they were protecting me, my parents wrapped me up in cotton wool and tried to make life easier for me. I now know, that had they made me face my fears at the time (public transport/crowds), I probably would have coped better. Instead I suffered for years, trying to avoid situations where I would put myself under undue stress. Following counselling in my 30’s, I learnt to accept and embrace my ‘wobblies’ and since then, they have become fewer over the years – they still creep up on me though on occasions, but I’m not afraid of them any more.

In 2011, I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer and subsequently had my thyroid removed. Although the cancer has gone, I am still undergoing annual check ups at our local hospital as unlike other cancers, you never get completely discharged if it’s Thyroid Cancer. It has recently been confirmed that I have Fibromyalgia and I suffer with all the daily struggles that this awful disease brings with it. Following my thyroid removal, I have gone on to develop Osteoarthritis.

Despite all my problems, I count myself as being lucky as there are others far worse off than me. I love to craft whenever I can and I hope you enjoy looking at my products.
