Spalted red oak bowl grown in Sussex and harvested after a storm, the higher parts of the tree showed showed little spalting but the lower trunk had amazing pattern and colour. I doubt I will ever turn a more beautiful piece of wood! Green turned by hand to a 6mm  wall thickness  and allowed to dry naturally.

Width 183 to 193 mm

Height 65 mm

FROM THE ASHES !   Saved from the ashes!  Made in Five Ashes in East Sussex !

No chemicals are used in the making or finish so all bowls are food friendly

Wipe clean only, do not put in water or dishwasher!

All wooden bowls are made from sustainable sources, trees have either already fallen, had to be cut or are casualties in the felling of dangerous or diseased trees, notably ash in the south of England.

Please note this is a handmade item with natural imperfections in the wood and is not symmetrical. The wood is predominantly turned green and allowed to dry naturally producing a varying degree of distortion. The finish on the bowls is sunflower oil followed by beeswax which I render from beehive frames from Sussex. To improve the appearance and life of the bowl I recommend that you rub a tiny amount of sunflower oil around it with a clean cloth once in a while to feed the wood should it need it, most of the bowls do not even require that just a buff with a clean dry soft cloth.

I’ve had anxiety issues since I was 12 yrs old, due to some unfortunate events by 19 it completely took hold and I had gone from a sociable, outgoing girl to someone who was completely housebound. At 20 I discovered I was pregnant with my firstborn and from that day I did everything I could to overcome the agoraphobia that had taken over my life. It took a long time and I hit many bumps in the road, and although I still have to battle my anxieties on almost a daily basis I am now the proud mother to 3 perfect little girls. Although I’m still not able to get a conventional job, with the support of my amazing partner, I am now a self employed seamstress and crafts person.
