Description

I called this handmade Dorset Button brooch “Snowflake,” as the sparkly white, pale blue and pink yarn and purple translucent beads beads remind me of a snow covered landscape with a pink, purple and blue sunset sky. It can be backed with a brooch pin to use as a scarf pin or brooch, or with a hairslide to use as a brooch hair accessory. It would make a lovely gift for a woman or girl or a brooch for a nature loving man. Imagine it pinned on the lapel of a warm winter coat or wrap to brighten it up, or clipped to the side of a glamorous hairstyle to tone in with a matching dress. Any woman from your mum or grandmother to a young girl, especially one who loves purple, would love it!

Dorset button making is a rural craft, traditionally used to make closures for clothing, but they are generally now made to be worn as pretty and quirky jewellery in the form of a large round brooch (this one is approx 5 cms or 2 inches wide) or hair accessories. This one has been bound with sparkly white, pale blue and pink yarn, which is wrapped around a wooden ring then across and round the space in the middle with translucent pale purple beads threaded on, creating a unique design

Postage is FREE within the UK, please contact me before ordering for a cost price quote for postage overseas.

Hi there. I make patchwork homewares, accessories and gifts made from recycled fabrics.I particularly like the scrappy look and am a great believer in recycling. I also love knitting hats in unusual styles, and cable patterns. I suffer from Fibromyalgia and sew and knit as and when I’m able.
