Shibori flame necklace. This pendant is made with shibori ribbon, in flame colours. ,This exquisite silk ribbon is hand made with an traditional Japanese dyeing technique called Shibori. The ribbon is made using the Arashi Shibori technique, also called pole-wrapping shibori. The silk is wrapped diagonally around a pole and bound tightly with thread The result is a pleated silk ribbon with a diagonal pattern. “Arashi” is Japanese for “storm”. The ribbon can be ironed flat to reveal the pattern or used pleated. It lends itself to natural flowing shapes in jewellery making.
Then complimentary coloured beads are sewn on to it. Including 150/200 seed beads and 10 fire polished beads and a new but vintage Swarovski cabochon which is in a beautiful shade of red and almost glows . Finished off on the back with a lovely shade of wine red coloured ultra-suede for comfort. At least 15 hours of stitching has gone into this pendant, plus 3 full days of a finishing process.

I suffer with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Intractable Migraines and Hidradenitis Suppurativa. I make jewellery and find it incredibly relaxing, it’s my therapist!! I’ve had the migraines for the last 12 years but only got properly diagnosed 2 years ago. The fibro was diagnosed in January this year, the same with the hs, it was a weight off my mind knowing that there was reasons why I felt the way I do.
Edited to add, I have recently also been diagnosed with ddd, with a wheelchair on its way.
