When I was a teenager, I suffered my first panic attack. Thinking they were protecting me, my parents wrapped me up in cotton wool and tried to make life easier for me. I now know, that had they made me face my fears at the time (public transport/crowds), I probably would have coped better. Instead I suffered for years, trying to avoid situations where I would put myself under undue stress. Following counselling in my 30’s, I learnt to accept and embrace my ‘wobblies’ and since then, they have become fewer over the years – they still creep up on me though on occasions, but I’m not afraid of them any more.
In 2011, I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer and subsequently had my thyroid removed. Although the cancer has gone, I am still undergoing annual check ups at our local hospital as unlike other cancers, you never get completely discharged if it’s Thyroid Cancer. According to my GP, I’m borderline Fibromyalgia and have over sensitive pain receptors which means that when touched even lightly, it feels like a bruise and causes pain for ages afterwards. I’ve recently been diagnosed as having Osteoarthritis.
Despite all my problems, I count myself as being lucky as there are others far worse off than me. I love to craft whenever I can and I hope you enjoy looking at my products.
