Description
Macrame adjustable rainbow illusion “glow” bead ankle bracelet.
The main beads used in this anklet are acrylic illusion miracle beads, which I call “glow” beads, as their 3D nature appears to glow in certain lights making the anklet really stand out from the crowd!
The anklet is made of a soft satin nylon rattail cord using the macramé square knot design and 7 “glow” beads in vibrant rainbow colours.
This anklet is adjustable and has no fiddly clasps to contend with and so makes a great gift for friends or relatives of all ages. It is made to an “average” size however the adjustable nature also means that you don’t have to worry about knowing the size of the recipients ankle. (I can make them larger or smaller than “average” if required, please request via the “contact craftie” option)
This would look great wearing on your holidays, walking along a sandy beach or even at a festival! It will brighten up your summer wardrobe!
The rainbow colours are often also used to symbolise the “Chakra” colours relating to energies within your body and also for LGBT/gay pride.
*MACRAME*
“Macramé” is a form of textile produced using knotting (rather than weaving or knitting) techniques. The primary knots of macramé are the square knot (a variant of the reef knot) and forms of “hitching”: various combinations of half hitches.
It was long crafted by sailors, especially in elaborate or ornamental knotting forms, to decorate anything from knife handles to bottles to parts of ships.
Macramé jewellery became popular in the early 1970s among the American young and old crowd. Using mainly square knots and granny knots, this jewellery often features handmade glass beads and natural elements such as bone and shell. Necklaces, anklets and bracelets have become popular forms of macramé jewellery.
Materials used in macramé include cords made of cotton twine, linen, hemp, jute, leather or yarn. Jewellery is often made in combination of both the knots and various beads (glass, wooden and so on), pendants or shells. “Friendship” bracelets that are often exchanged amongst schoolchildren are also made using this method.
“Shamballa” bracelets are a style of bracelet, which have been around for centuries. Shamballa bracelets are based on the traditional Catholic Rosary beads and were historically used to assist in meditation.
Real shamballa bracelets are made from shamballa beads which are threaded or knotted onto a cord by macramé knots, these are then pulled to close. The Shamballa beads can be any material from wooden and clay beads, to genuine diamond beads and intricately carved bone beads.
