I love the design of this bag and it was great fun to make. It is called a ‘fat bottomed bag’ because it is deceptively spacious and you’ll be amazed at how much you can carry (don’t we carry a lot and sometimes for others too – toys, wallets, keys, etc, etc.) With this bag you can carry lots and still look stylish at the same time!
I have used a beautiful variegated acrylic yarn in stunning shades of purples and greens and added a 7.5cm (3″) wide length of ivory coloured lace along the top edge to add interest. I’ve also added a knitted lilac flower and strands of green crocheted leaves to complete the look. The lining is hand stitched in place and is a purple and white thin striped cotton fabric.
The whole design is finished off with wood effect circular handles which are easy to hold or to slip your arm through.
This is a very versatile bag which is suitable for day and evening use and is equally suitable for everyday shopping or going out to a special event.
Approximate measurements excluding handles: 28cms x 43cms (11″ x 17″)

When I was a teenager, I suffered my first panic attack. Thinking they were protecting me, my parents wrapped me up in cotton wool and tried to make life easier for me. I now know and I don’t blame them as they did what they thought was best at the time, that had they made me face my fears at the time (public transport/crowds), I probably would have coped better. Instead I suffered for years, trying to avoid situations where I would put myself under undue stress. Following counselling in my 30’s, I learnt to accept and embrace my ‘wobblies’ and since then, they have become fewer over the years – they still creep up on me though on occasions, but I’m not afraid of them any more.
In 2011, I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer and subsequently had my thyroid removed. Although the cancer has gone, I am still undergoing annual check ups at our local hospital as unlike other cancers, you never get completely discharged if it’s Thyroid Cancer. It has recently been confirmed that I have Fibromyalgia and I suffer with all the daily struggles that this awful disease brings with it. Following my thyroid removal, I have gone on to develop Osteoarthritis and now need to walk with the aid of a stick as I am very wobbly without (I look drunk lol) .
Despite all my problems, I count myself as being lucky as there are others far worse off than me. I love to craft whenever I can and I hope you enjoy looking at my products.
