Iridescent Mother of pearl vintage button earrings.
I’ve used delicate, vintage mother of pearl buttons for these stud earrings. These buttons are made from natural shell, so have a lovely shimmer and speckled coral pattern backs. The reclaimed buttons are in excellent condition. The buttons are on a silver plated stud blank and have a butterfly back.
One of my fondest childhood memories. is the many hours playing with my Nana’s button tin. So when at a craft fair in Brighton, a button bracelet caught my eye; I had to make one for myself. I put my stamp on it by using some of my treasured vintage button collection. Now I make all sorts of button jewellery, such as these earrings.
All our silver plated elements are lead and nickel free.
These boho earrings comes beautifully gift wrapped in vintage style packaging; with handmade ‘Paprika Jewellery’ recycled card backs and pillow box. It would make a perfect piece of jewellery for a beach wedding and a lovely bridesmaid gift.

All of our vintage buttons come from mine or friend’s grandmother’s button collection or donated from museum stock. They are all from the 50s to the 80s. However, we can only make an approximation of their vintage. Please see our shop settings for how we rate our vintage buttons.
Please note that there may be slight colour tone differences from photos, although I try to ensure accurate images.
All of our items come from a non-smoking home and with a loyalty card (see shop settings for details).

Hi, I’m Laura and I’m married to Joel, with two sons; Zeke and Luca. I’m disabled due to a number of chronic illnesses which leave me bed bound, due to severe pain. In 2014 I was diagnosed with the rare brain condition-Intracranial Hypertension (IIH). I have restricted blood vessels which means that blood can’t drain properly, causing raised pressure inside my skull. This pressure mimics a brain tumour, causing debilitating symptoms and leaving me mainly bedbound. I’ve had a constant, severe headache for nearly 4 years, I fall or pass out often and have many other life-limiting symptoms. My everyday pain is often worse than that associated with childbirth. I’m having ongoing brain and skull surgery to improve my symptoms, but my prognosis is unknown.
Before this diagnosis, about 7 years ago, Joel bought me silver smithing classes. I grabbed the opportunity with both hands and made myself the jewellery I’d always wanted. I found I had an unexpected eye for design, but had to stop using the workshop tools and machines when I fell ill with IIH. After months of constant pain, I decided to make jewellery at home as a distraction. I taught myself new techniques, that built on what I already knew. Seeing my creations bring joy to others, gave me back a sense of purpose, after losing the teaching career I’d loved. My situation affected my mental health and I began writing to process my feelings. I rediscovered my love of poetry and started making poetry keepsakes, as well as jewellery storage and greetings cards.
I appreciate you taking the time to read my story and visit my store. I’m passionate about celebrating individuality in my original designs; be it a gift or a treat for yourself. Whether you want a piece that stands out from the crowd or subtly shows what makes you, you; I’ll always be on hand to ensure you feel amazing. Everything I make is one of a kind and where I do offer multiples, each piece is exclusively designed for you. My husband helps me with photography and other things I struggle with. My family’s support means that I can spend my energy on creating beautiful designs and ensure that my customer service stays rated 5 stars.
