We moved as a family to Wales from Kent when my twins were 3 yours old. Part way through all the upheaval of packing for moving, one of the twins was rushed to Great Ormond Street Hospital with major gastric problems, and was diagnosed with PROTEIN LOOSING ENTEROPATHY. She was at first either not expected to survive or to be in hospital for a very long time (the doctors kept telling me that with her illness, the last child they treated was in hospital for 8 months). Thankfully after only a 4 week stay she was allowed home and our house move went ahead.
Because of her ongoing problems, even after she had started school, there was no way I could have taken on a job, either part or full time. I never knew more than a few hours at a time how she would be. Luckily we lived next door to the school. Because of this I turned to my crafts to make a small income and CRAFTY COTTAGE CARDS was formed.
6 years later I opened a REAL shop in our local village, and became CRAFTY COTTAGE CARDS AND GIFTS, which sadly due to its position did not last long. But I was determined to carry on with my crafting business selling via ebay and a couple of annual craft fairs. Then when my husband and I separated the crafts became a necessity to make some money. By this time I was having a lot of health problems myself and was diagnosed 2 years ago with LUPUS. Again I am unable to hold down a job as I never know from one day to the next how I am going to be. So to be able to work at home is a real blessing.
Now due to my beautiful twins becoming 18 they are either at college or uni so any benefits I get from the government for them being “children” are being greatly reduced, so yet again my crafting is becoming my life line and also needs to become a full time job and income. So I am branching out and creating various online shops to promote my crafts.
