Description

This unique Moa feather blue and white brooch has been inspired by Victorian fashion. Upcycled beads create a vintage look, whilst the brass gives a little modest sparkle. This brooch could be worn on a lapel, hat, bag or belt and would suit an outfit for a special occasion, Steampunk event, wedding or as a little everyday flourish.

Sally-Ann LivingstonZebra’s Bazaar

In 2012 I received my first major diagnosis that set me on the path to discovering the lifelong, mostly invisible disabilities that I was born with. They are becoming more visible as time goes by. I have hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Functional Neurological Disorder, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Social Anxiety Syndrome mostly in childhood, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Fibromyalgia, Migraine, POTS and Asperger’s Syndrome. I found all this out in my late 30’s, early 40’s. I’m married with one child, whose birth I was very lucky to survive, thanks to the then-undiagnosed EDS.The diagnosis process itself was a struggle and I had to put much of the effort in myself. Crafting allows me to express myself…at my own pace. I can work comfortably from home yet reach out across the globe, thanks to the internet. Isn’t that wonderful?! I’m so grateful that my life experience has led me here, helping me to cope with what is, at times, an overwhelming health challenge with FND, hEDS, POTS and AS, all of which are in need of far more awareness. I hold a Degree in Design Representation (Modelmaking) and spent my first few working years as a professional modelmaker. I then re-trained as a Montessori Directress teaching preschoolers. I’ve been a Live Roleplayer for 20 years but recently have settled into the Steampunk genre (hence the alias ‘The Navigatrix’). I love upcycling charity shop finds, occasionally mixing with new materials. I make jewellery, accessories, cards and who knows what I might turn my hand to next (though, probably not knitting!). I’m from a crafty, musical family.
‘If you hear hoofbeats, think horses not zebras’ is the medical student’s aphorism. This shop is a place where I can explore creatively, so expect an eclectic selection!
